2.Smart Glass Process Steps

  1. Environmental requirements: the process before lamination/hot pressing needs to be operated in a dust-free workshop.
  2. EVA cutting process: EVA size should be at least 5mm longer and wider than glass size. Please be noted that high temperature EVA should be used, 80-90 degrees is a low temperature film which can not be used.
  3. PDLC films measurements: The size of PDLC film is slightly smaller than glass. Taking the PDLC film busbar side as reference, the length of the busbar side should be reduced by 3mm relative to the glass size, and the other three sides are reduced by 2mm relative to the glass size.
  4. Films laying: Bottom glass, lower EVA, middle PDLC film, then EVA and upper glass are placed on it successively, pay special attention, If the tempered glass is thin, when lay the films should maintain the same bending direction; When placed, each side of EVA are slightly beyond the glass edge by 2mm-5mm.
  5. If EVA films have smooth and rough side, the rough surface side is placed in the direction of PDLC film.
  6. The busbar of PDLC films should be wrapped and fixed by high temperature adhesive tape to avoid the busbar disintegrating into the spilled film after heating, leading to the busbar failure.
  7. Laminating (laminating machine process) : according to the EVA performance parameters set the laminating machine process parameters.
  8. Packing cotton(Autoclave process): Use heat-resistant cotton fabric and tape to seal all sides of the glass.

Seal (Autoclave process):

  1. Lay the vacuum film flat on the work table, place the cotton fabric wrapped glass in the appropriate position of the vacuum film, and put the lower lid of the vacuum slot on the exposed component silk floss. The glass edge with vacuum slot is 200mm ~ 250mm from the edge of the vacuum film, and the other two sides of the glass are 80mm ~ 120mm from the edge of the vacuum film.
  2. Turn the vacuum film over and cover the glass surface to ensure that the vacuum film can completely cover the glass and the distance between the edge of the vacuum film and the edge of the module meets the requirements in step 1.
  3. Put the high temperature sealant onto vacuum film.
  4. Three sides of the high temperature sealant should be around the glass, The distance from high temperature sealant to the edge of vacuum film is not less than 30mm, both ends beyond the glass about 50mm.
  5. Cover the vacuum film on the surface of the glass, tear off the protective paper on the surface of the sealant, press the sealant with the palm while tearing, so that the upper and lower two pieces of vacuum films are bound together.
  6. Clamp the vacuum film by the upper and lower lid of the vacuum slot.
  7. Seal the lid of the vacuum slot periphery with sealant.
  8. Check whether the lid and vacuum film are well sealed.
  9. When finished the checking, cut off the excess vacuum film outside of sealant.

Hot pressing (autoclave process) : The insulation temperature Pease refer the table below.

  1. Lift the glass onto transit car and place it neatly. Connect each rubber pipe to the the vacuum pipe.
  2. Connect the reserved air lid to the autoclave vacuum pipe.
  3. Plug the excess air lid of the vacuum pipe with a plug, and only one air lid of each vacuum pipe to be connected with the autoclave. Check if the vacuum valve is closed.
  4. Set the hot pressing procedure, heating time is around 3-4 hours, close the autoclave door and lock it tightly, then start the autoclave, and the autoclave will run automatically until the end. heat preservation time depends on the amount of glass in the autoclave (usually 45-90 minutes).
